Biography:
Patricia Holly Purcell, a US and British National, is the Senior Strategic Partnerships Advisor at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), based in their Nairobi Headquarters, focusing on the Agency’s City Resilience Profiling Programme. Patricia joined UN-Habitat in 2013 after working for the United Nations Secretariat in Geneva, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, where she was the urban Technical and Strategic Advisor to the Special Representative to the United Nations Secretary-General on Disaster Risk Reduction. Prior to joining the UN, Patricia worked in the private sector in London, where she founded and managed a Commercial Sustainability programme for the world’s third largest insurance broker. Patricia previously worked as a financial journalist with a focus on energy, climate finance, and trade for news outlets, including The Economist, The Financial Times, The Guardian, The Times, and the BBC. Patricia is a visiting professor at the University of Copenhagen School of Global Health Master’s Programme on Disaster Management and sits on the Board of Directors of the Gold Standard.
