Biography:
Soumana Boubacar holds a State Doctorate in Agricultural Sciences supported the National Institute of Agronomy in El Harrach (Algiers). He began his research career in 1996 at the National Agricultural Research Institute of Niger (INRAN). From 1998-2008, he was assistant at the Faculty of Agronomy of the University Abdou Moumouni. Since 2008 he was recruited as a Permanent Researcher of the said Faculty where he currently holds the position of Head of Department of Sciences (DFS). He is a member of the Consortium for Economic Research in Africa (African Economic Research Consortium: Kenya AERC) and conducts research in the areas of poverty, food security, development economics, the household economy, analysis of value chains and analysis of rural and urban risks. He is an expert in the Household Economy Approach and is an international consultant and author of several livelihood profiles in the Sahel. He is a contributor to several humanitarian agencies on issues of vulnerability and risk analysis and shocks. He is Urban ARK's Principal Investigator in Niger and representative of Abdou Moumouni University.
